Guangxi Tour Day 4

The next day, we continued our tour to Guilin, where we had a morning cruise along Li Jiang. Personally i feel that theres nothing much except scenery on both sides of the boat. We sat on it for 3-4 hours and all of us were getting bored after the second hour.

The Tuk-tuk that we took to get to the getty for the river cruise. It was a different experience from our normal bus ride and was quite exciting though. Our bums were literally sore at the end of the ride.

An old street leading to the getty. Our guide told us that "Xi Jie" (West Street) used to looked like that twenty years ago.
We had our lunch at this "restaurant". Apparantly, if you noticed that i didnt not take many pictures of food during this trip, it means that i dont like their food.

An old women selling traditional handicrafts. Those red balls hanging beside her are "Xiu Qiu" or embroidered ball, tossed by girls during the ancient times to choose their husbands.

After lunch , we went to Silver Limestone Cave. The interior of the cave are filled with limestones which date back to a few hundred years ago.

One of the highlights of the Silver Limestone Cave is this pond of water reflecting the ceilling of the cave. I have never seen something like that in my life before. You have to be there to know its uniqueness.

This yam cake was one of the only few street snacks i tried over there. It was delicious , partly because the weather was cold.

Next we went to take the raft which i believe was better than the cruise in the morning which was more "high-class".Rafts parking along the riverside

The people living by the river trained birds to catch fishes for them. They will tie their throats with strings so that the bird wont swallow their prey. It is said that the wealth of a fisherman is determined by the number of birds he owned.

Random scenic shots. Notice the reflection of the clouds on the surface of the river. I feel that reading a storybook by the riverside would be the best thing to do, given the tranquil surroundings.
