Yuan Zhi texted me when it was nearing my examination period last sem whether i would be interested in meeting japanese students that were on an exchange trip. The Youth Executive Committee (YEC) of Nanyang CC had problem finding enough people to participate in this event. As i had quite a good impression of the Japanese during my last trip to Japan, i agreed to join them. I was also thinking this may also be a chance to meet some cute japanese girls. So why not?
Due to the severe shortage of people participating and knowing that Jean was frantically finding people to make up for the shortfall, i asked Desmond along to "prepare" him for his student exchange in the States.
We were each allocated to a few student during the initial interaction period at the hall. 2 classes had came over and there were only 4 guys among them. At first, i was quite shy and was thinking what to say to them. I suddenly remembered i brought along my ipod touch and i switched it on to show them the pictures that i took in Japan. It was quite a sucessful ice-breaking method and soon we were chatting in simple English on the places and food over there.
Later on, we had a buffet-style dinner where we let them taste some of the local food such as pineapple rice, "muah chee" and roti prata. Some of the girls in my group keep making me laugh by saying we are having a friendship. Then they proceed on to make the couple sign and pointing towards themselves and me.
They sang two songs on stage which impressed us coz they really sang very well.

After some performances by both the Singapore and Japanese side, we had some cultural exchange which they brought their japanese games and calligraphy for us to try.

The girl in the middle was quite cute so i asked her whether i could take a picture with her, which she agreed.
Towards the end of the exchange, one of the girls in my group gave me some origami that she folded using colored paper. But i lost it when everyone was taking the group photos and couldnt find it after that. I was quite upset about that.
Overall, i found the event to be a success and hoped they went home with fond memories of Singapore. After that, Jean gave us a GV movie voucher out of goodwill for helping her to attend the event which i think she shouldnt have because we really went there with the intent of interacting with them as well as make new friends.
